Yahoo came on top of the 2009 online advertisement ranking beating the web heavyweights such as Google, Amazon and Facebook. The ranking was based on the number of impressions on the ads published. Yahoo topped with 521 billion ads display impressions.

Social networking sites made a very impressive score with MySpace leading the category with 368 billion impressions followed closely by Facebook with 330 billion impressions. Microsoft Sites did fairly well at overall position No.4 serving up 218 billion display ads impressions, while Google (No. 6) served up only 70 billion. Google did not make a very significant score as it would be expected considering its position on the World Wide Web.

Although the report did not include paid search text ads, it gave a clear pin-point on the performance of different online ads publishers world-wide. This can help businesses make the right decisions on advertisement choice

He claims that it is this backdoor access system that enabled the hackers in China to gain admission into the private Gmail accounts. Schneier warns against these backdoor access systems which he states could someday facilitate the policing of our accounts. However in Google’s defense these backdoor access systems were created as a compliance with the government law and were not meant to be misused to hack into people’s accounts.
